Regenerative Medicine (PRF)

The Logan Institute (TLI) has been a leader in using platelet rich fibrin (PRF) to deliver innovative regenerative therapy for joint repair and medical aesthetics. Platelet Rich Fibrin Therapy, also called PRF, is an innovative, non-surgical treatment for injuries, strains, and wear-and-tear to joints, muscles, tendons and more. Your TLI physician expertly places injections near the site of injury to enhance the body’s own healing processes.

When an injury occurs the body automatically signals for help and calls platelets, white blood cells, red blood cells and other components within your body to travel to the site of injury. Once there, these cells communicate with each other to release specific growth factors that initiate the healing process.

When used at the site of injury, the growth factors and other components in platelet rich fibrin (PRF) have been shown to accelerate healing of injured tissue. This results in improved function and decreased pain in patients of all ages and activity levels without surgery.

We partner with local orthopedic, chiropractors, trainers, and physician specialists to treat aging joints and sports related injuries. This is accomplished by using a dedicated extraction lab to process your own blood to obtain the components that will facilitate maximal healing of the joints/tendons and ligaments. Blood is taken and then spun in a special centrifuge to extract the PRF. It is then heated to a target temperature to activate collagen and then platelets are activated to release the growth factors that will allow for new cartilage formation from your own tissue. This is all done to achieve the greatest concentration of true plasma RICH fibrin. If you are considering PRF therapy, be sure to understand if this is from placental/embryonic “stem cells” or if it using your own serum (blood), bone marrow or adipose (fat) cells. We use ONLY cells and growth factors that are derived from your own blood and do not use the other placental derived cells.

Conditions regenerative medicine may help:
  • Joint pain

  • Muscle strains

  • Rotator cuff tears

  • Achilles tendon ruptures

  • Ankle Sprain

  • Tendonitis

  • Tennis/Golfers elbow

  • Ligament damage

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Hair growth

  • Erectile Dysfunction

How Does PRF Work?

When an injury occurs, the body automatically signals platelets, white blood cells and stem cells to travel to the site of the injury. These cells then release specific growth factors that initiate the natural repair process to accelerate healing and regeneration. Using our dedicated extraction lab, we process one’s OWN blood to obtain PRF, one of components that your body uses in the healing process. We then inject the PRF into the site of the injury, giving your body exactly what it needs to heal itself.

This therapy REQUIRES an MD order and is NOT open to non-patients.

Note: The Logan Institute utilizes any number of treatment modalities to best resolve symptoms and the underlying root cause of those symptoms.
