Spring Renewal: Embracing Regeneration, Gardening, and Detoxification for a Vibrant Season Ahead

Spring is my favorite season of the year. It marks the transition from the long cold nights of winter to warmer days. It is a time of regeneration and rebirth. New life springs forth out of the earth so vibrant and ready to grow. It is time to start planning my garden, to start plants from seed in my windowsill for summer harvest. It is a time to go outside and ground myself as I work the earth for this season’s planting. I explore the garden to see what has survived the winter and is ready for harvest. There are mustard greens, kale and lettuce that are growing and ready to eat. My first seeds go in the ground, radishes, arugula, spinach, mixed greens and more. I look forward to the harvest of bitter greens such as mustard, dandelion and stinging nettles to help the liver detoxify.

Growing your own food is quite easy and fun. I will host our second annual raised garden workshop on April 15th from 1-4 PM. This will be a free workshop and some physical activity will be expected. Call Georgia Duke, our nutrition coach to sign up.

In many healing traditions, the transition of seasons marks a time for cleansing in order to prepare for the coming season. This will lighten the physical body from the heavy foods of winter to the energizing lighter foods of spring. Every spring, I recommend taking the opportunity to do some form of cleansing to assist the body’s detoxification pathways. This can be done through a water or juice fast, a program such as the “30-Day Reset” or simply following The Whole 30 Diet program. Unfortunately, our environment is becoming more polluted every day and the need to assist the body’s detoxification pathways is paramount. I was shocked when I ran a toxin burden test on myself (Great Plains Laboratory) and found high levels of pesticides, organic solvents, jet fuel and 2 mold toxins in my body. I am very particular to grow as much food as I can and eat organically, exercise regularly to induce sweating, drink artesian well water and many other practices to help reduce my toxic burden yet I have these residual chemicals still in my system. Now is the time to detox! Please join us for a seminar to discuss Detoxing April 20th from 5-6pm, more information will be provided in the coming weeks. Please reach out to Georgia if you are interested .
