Prolotherapy
At The Logan Institute for Health & Wellness in Fishers, Indiana, we use prolotherapy principles as part of our regenerative approach for patients with stubborn joint, tendon, muscle, and ligament pain. Our patients often see improvements in comfort, stability, and function as regenerative therapy helps “wake up” the body’s natural healing response in areas that have become weak or chronically irritated.
What is prolotherapy?
Prolotherapy is a regenerative injection treatment that uses a mild, targeted solution, often dextrose (a type of sugar) mixed with a local anesthetic, to stimulate your body’s own repair processes. Instead of simply numbing the area or masking symptoms, prolotherapy is designed to gently irritate the injured or loose tissue just enough to trigger healing.
Prolotherapy is a more natural, structural approach to pain, especially when ligaments or tendons feel weak, unstable, or “worn out” from chronic strain.
How does prolotherapy work?
During a prolotherapy treatment, a series of small injections are placed into specific ligaments, tendons, or joint structures that are contributing to your pain or instability. The solution creates a controlled, low-grade inflammatory response that signals the body to:
Increase blood flow to the area
Bring in healing cells and growth factors
Lay down new, stronger connective tissue over time
How regenerative medicine actually helps your body heal
Like PRF, PRP, and neural therapy, prolotherapy builds on a simple idea: your body is capable of healing, but sometimes an area needs focused, guided stimulation to restart that process. Over time, injuries, poor mechanics, and age-related changes can leave tissues under-healed and chronically painful.
By carefully targeting the weakened structures with regenerative injections, therapies like prolotherapy can:
Support better blood flow and tissue repair
Encourage stronger, more resilient ligaments and tendons
Help reduce the chronic irritation that keeps pain coming back
We focus on helping the underlying tissue heal and stabilize as much as possible, not just temporarily quieting pain.
Prolotherapy as part of Comprehensive Regenerative Therapy
Prolotherapy is one important tool we use at The Logan Institute for Health & Wellness, but it is not the whole story. Depending on your condition, we may combine prolotherapy with platelet-based treatments like PRF, as well as neural therapy and other supportive care, to address pain, inflammation, and stability from multiple angles.
Our patients see the best results when they follow a comprehensive, personalized plan rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.

Volunteering Doing Prolotherapy
Dr. Logan is committed to bringing his patients the most advanced regenerative care possible, which means he is always learning, traveling, and training with leaders in the field. He has even traveled to La Ceiba, Honduras to learn and volunteer, providing prolotherapy to patients who otherwise would not have access to this type of care. Experiences like these deepen his skills, sharpen his eye for complex cases, and keep him up to date with evolving techniques. If you’d like to learn more about his journey and ongoing training, you can read the full story on our blog.
